Trade with the United States, Soviet Union, Britain and Argentina
The Minister gave 1981 import and export values for all four countries. Asked whether the Falklands crisis might change trade figures and whether this had been considered before Ireland’s position was decided, he said he could not predict changes and reiterated that he had supplied the requested statistics.

In 1981 the value of trade with these countries was: United States of America: Imports £767.9 million, Exports £304.0 million; Soviet Union: Imports £31.6 million, Exports £24.6 million; Great Britain: Imports £2,933.9 million, Exports £1,587.9 million; Argentina: Imports £6.0 million, Exports £9.5 million.

I would like to ask the Minister about the reply to Question Nos. 8 and 9. Does he anticipate there will be any alteration in these figures in view of the stand we have taken in regard to the Falkland crisis?
