(Waterford) asked the Minister for Labour the number of accidents and diseases reported to his Department in 1981 under the Safety in Industry Acts, 1955 and 1980; and the number of these that occurred in the construction industry.

The number of accidents reported to my Department in 1981 under the Safety in Industry Acts, 1955 and 1980 totalled 3,838, of which 570 occurred in the construction industry. No diseases were reported to my Department in 1981 under the Safety in Industry Acts, 1955 and 1980.
