‹ Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Lotteries. Local authority lotteries
Summary
The Minister doubts lotteries would significantly increase local authority income but may consider enabling them in future finance legislation.
asked the Minister for the Environment if he has any proposals to enable local authorities to run lotteries to raise funds.
Comment on this
I do not believe that lotteries run directly by local authorities would involve a significant supplement to their income but I have on open mind on the matter and will consider the question of including a power to engage in lotteries in any future legislation on local authority finance.
