Postponement of Question No. 14

Summary

Boland requested that Question No. 14 be postponed until tomorrow, hoping the Minister for Agriculture would attend to answer it personally. The Chair postponed the question, but the Minister of State could not guarantee the Minister’s attendance.

I wonder if one might inquire whether the Minister for Agriculture will be absent for the remainder of Question Time today and if he will be here tomorrow? I mean no disrespect to the Minister of State.

Bernard Cowen Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture (Mr. Cowen) Fianna Fáil

Is the Deputy inquiring about the absence of the Minister?

Comment on this

Will he be here tomorrow?

Comment on this

It is quite possible.

Comment on this

In that event, on behalf of Deputy Farrelly, I would like to ask that Question No. 14 be postponed until tomorrow.

The Deputy himself has to ask.

Comment on this

I have authorisation from him for that.

All right. Question No. 14 is postponed.

Comment on this

That is on the basis that the Minister will be here tomorrow.

Comment on this

I cannot give any guarantee that the Minister will be here.

Comment on this

Perhaps the Minister of State would endeavour to arrange that the Minister for Agriculture be here tomorrow to answer the question personally.
