asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 a telephone connection fee was paid almost a year ago but that the telephone has not yet been connected; the reason for the delay; and when it will be connected.
Comment on this
When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and make advance payment it was expected that telephone service would be provided for him within about three months. Regrettably, an unforeseen difficulty arose in connection with the telephone number allocated. This has now been resolved and it is expected that service will be connected within the next two weeks or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when an additional telephone line will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6.
Comment on this
The person named has not applied for an additional telephone line. He has applied for an internal extension with coin box off his existing telephone.
Stocks of the coin box in use heretofore are exhausted. Supplies of an improved model are expected to be available about the middle of next year and the application will be attended to as soon as possible after that.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason the telephone of a person (details supplied) in Cork is still disconnected; and the reason officials of his Department have failed to contact him about his telephone account despite assurances which were given on two occasions by his office.
Comment on this
The telephone in question was disconnected in December 1981 for non-payment of the account. A final account which was issued earlier this year following termination of the agreement for service is still unpaid. The question of providing service again cannot be considered until the outstanding account is paid.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the long delay in installing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

It has been possible to provide telephone service for the person named so far because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention in the County Westmeath area and a shortage of equipment at the local exchange.
