asked the Minister for Agriculture when a programme for horse production will be negotiated with the EEC since other member states have developed this industry successfully with community aid.

The possibility of obtaining Community aid for the horse industry has been under examination by my Department and Bord na gCapall. A programme for this purpose is being prepared by the board and as soon as it is available my Department will pursue the matter with the EEC.

The Minister mentioned Bord na gCapall. The Minister and the House are aware that all members of Bord na gCapall resigned recently. Would the Minister care to make a statement to the House on the performance of this board in the production of a policy for the horse industry? Will he explain why the annual accounts which were due out in April of this year have not appeared?
