Separate Dún Laoghaire harbour authority

Summary

Cosgrave asked whether a separate authority should be established given the harbour’s passenger and freight traffic. Bermingham said the Commissioners of Public Works retain statutory control and have no such proposal.

Liam T. Cosgrave Mr. L.T. Cosgrave Fine Gael

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the large number of passengers and the now considerable freight and container traffic using Dún Laoghaire harbour, he will consider the establishment of a separate harbour authority for the port.

Comment on this

Management and control of Dún Laoghaire Harbour are statutory obligations of the Commissioners of Public Works, under the State Harbours Act, 1924. The commissioners have no proposal to establish a separate harbour authority for the port.
