asked the Minister for the Environment when the Fair Rents Tribunal, which was promised as part of the joint Fine Gael-Labour Programme for Government, will be established.

Proposals for legislation to establish a fair rents tribunal are currently under examination and this examination will be completed as quickly as possible.

Any indication as to when?

I hope we will have the legislation completed by the end of this session.

Will the proposal cover tenants of all private dwelling accommodation?

Final decisions have not yet been taken on the extent of the legislation.
