Environmental Improvement Scheme allocations

Summary

O’Keeffe asked about allocations to Mallow and Cork County Council’s northern committee, including youth employment. Quinn answered that allocations were made by county or county borough, with sub-area distributions decided by county managers, and circulated a tabular statement.

Ned O'Keeffe Mr. E. O'Keeffe Fianna Fáil

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money allocated under the environment improvement scheme to Mallow Urban District Council, County Cork for each year since the inception of the scheme.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 27 together. As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose to have the information requested circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Environment Improvement Scheme

Notes:

1 Allocations under the Environmental Improvement Scheme, which commenced in 1977, are made by the Department on a county borough/county-at-large (excl. Dublin) basis. The distribution of an allocation to sub-areas within a county is a matter for the appropriate County Manager. The amounts in the table, therefore, are those portions of overall allocations notified to Cork County Council which were allocated locally to the authorities in question.

2 Figures in respect of numbers of youths employed on the scheme in the years prior to 1980 are not available in the Department.
