LPG tanker unloading hazard in Dublin
Mr. Gregory asked whether unloading large LPG tankers posed a hazard to central Dublin residents and whether the jetty’s distance from proposed storage tanks met the fire officer’s assessment. The Minister declined to comment while a planning appeal was before An Bord Pleanála; he did not know when it would report but understood submissions were complete.
asked the Minister for Transport if he considers that the unloading of very large tankers of LPG will present a major hazard to residential areas in central Dublin; if he agrees with the assessment of the chief fire officer in Dublin with regard to the distance of the docking jetty for these tankers from the proposed underground storage tanks; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: As these issues are currently the subject matter of a planning appeal being conducted by An Bord Pleanála, it would be inappropriate for me to comment at this time.

: Can I take it from the Minister's reply that no matter what supplementary questions I ask he will not be in a position to clarify the matter?

: I have been under considerable pressure to make a decision on this matter but have been advised that it would be inappropriate for me to do so in advance of the outcome of the appeal to An Bord Pleanála.

: Does the Minister have any idea of the date on which the commission will report to him?
