CBF levy collections and use

Summary

Noonan asked how much CBF collected in farmer levies from 1980 through the first quarter of the current year and how the money was used. Deasy supplied the collection figures and said the levies help pay veterinary officials’ costs, which also require grant-in-aid support.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Agriculture the amount collected by way of levies by CBF from farmers in each of the years 1980, 1981, 1982 and for the first three months of this year.

It is utilised for the payment of the costs incurred by our veterinary section officials. It does not completely cover their costs, other grants in aid are also provided.
