In the period 1978 to 1982 improvement works were carried out at 21 minor fish landing places in County Donegal with the aid of State grants totalling £685,000.

Work is at present in progress at Portevlin on the construction of a new pier for which a State grant of £300,000 has been approved and at Mageroarty where the slip is being widened and a power winch provided with the aid of a State grant of £37,000.

Improvement works are under consideration in respect of Cladnageeragh, Protaleen, Port Inver and Portnablagh.
