Funding for Border-area surveys

Summary

Leonard asked the Minister to seek Exchequer and UK government funding for surveys of Derry, Donegal and other areas, beyond the Border fund; Dukes said it was a separate question.

Mr. Leonard

Seeing that the fund we have spent so much time discussing is a minor one as far as the Border region is concerned — this £20 million, where there have been surveys done in relation to Derry, Donegal and other areas which would cost probably five times that — bearing in mind that, under the European Regional Development Fund, we have information to the effect that Brussels were willing to finance such projects, would the Minister press that money be provided for that purpose by our Exchequer and the sovereign Government in England apart from the Border regional fund?

That is a separate question that does not relate to the Border areas funds.
