Cork Hospital Redundancies

Summary

Fitzgerald asks whether the Southern Health Board’s vacancy policy is behind 125 redundancies notified at Cork Regional Hospital, contrasting them with 165 vacancies advertised for Tralee. The Minister says he has no information about the Cork notices and would welcome clarification.

Will the Minister state if that freedom which has been allowed by him to the Southern Health Board is responsible for the 125 redundancies notified in the Cork Regional Hospital?

That is a separate question.

I have sanctioned the placing of advertisements for the Southern Health Board of 165 vacancies for the Tralee hospital. I cannot do any more than that.

Is the Minister now saying he is creating 165 jobs in Tralee and 125 vacancies in Cork?

Comment on this

I have not received any information on it. I would be only too glad to have it cleared up.
