European Social Fund allocation and programmes

Summary

Ireland had £123.52 million in European Social Fund assistance approved for 1983 programmes, though the final amount claimed was not yet known. The Minister offered to provide separately the number of companies funded and information on 1984 funding.

asked the Minister for Labour the allocation Ireland received in 1983 from the European Social Fund; and the projects aided.

Assistance amounting to £123.52 millions was approved for Ireland from the European Social Fund for programmes carried out in 1983. As the beneficiaries have up to mid-1985 to make their final claims for payment from the fund for 1983 operations, I cannot at this stage say what the final amount received will be. Details of the programmes for which assistance was approved are set out in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Assistance from the European Social Fund approved for Ireland for 1983 programmes.

How many companies have made applications for and have received moneys from the Social Fund? What kind of funds are available for this country in 1984?

I could not give an answer now but if the Deputy likes to put down a question I will get the information for him.
