Doolin Pier reconstruction loan

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the dangerous condition of the pier at Doolin, County Clare; and if in view of the importance of the pier as a tourist amenity and for the economic benefit of the area, he will sanction the raising of a loan by Clare County Council to enable reconstruction to be undertaken there and the pier to be restored as soon as possible.

I propose to take Questions Nos 12 and 13 together. I approved on 16 April 1984 the raising of a loan of £250,000 by Clare County Council for reconstruction work at Doolin pier.
