asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if appointments to the fishery boards are made by the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry or by the Board.

Members of the seven regional fisheries boards are elected at elections which are held every five years, the first such election having been held in December 1981. In addition, the Minister may appoint five members to each board.

The Central Fisheries Board consists of the chairman of each regional fisheries board and not less than four and not more than six members appointed by the Minister.
