Are the men who so participate those who were appointed some years ago or are an increasing number of personnel utilised in this way due to the lack of recruitment in the Defence Forces and pressures on serving men due to dropping numbers in recent years?

There has been no increase in the number of FCA men on full time service.

Comment on this

Is there a departmental prohibition on FCA personnel participating in full time security duties?

Comment on this

There is no need for them. The factors which caused them to be involved in full time security duties some years ago do not now apply.
