Dún Laoghaire unemployment figures

Summary

Andrews sought unemployment numbers and industry breakdowns for the constituency. Barrett said constituency figures could not be allocated, but would circulate monthly live-register figures for Dún Laoghaire employment exchange.

asked the Taoiseach the number of persons in the Dún Laoghaire constituency unemployed from 1 January 1983 to 31 December 1983, from 1 January 1984 to 31 December 1984, and 1 January 1985 to date; and the nature of areas of industry or otherwise from which these persons became unemployed.

Comment on this

(Dún Laoghaire): The areas served by individual local employment offices are not prescribed in terms of specific geographically defined areas. It is not possible, therefore, to allocate persons on the live register to the Dún Laoghaire constituency. However, I propose to circulate a statement giving the details requested in respect of persons on the live register at Dún Laoghaire employment exchange.

Following is the Statement.

The number of persons on the live register at Dún Laoghaire employment exchange on the last Friday of each month, January 1983 to March 1985, is shown in the following table:

An industrial analysis of the live register is carried out on the second Friday of each month. The following table classifies the number of persons o n the live register at Dún Laoghaire employment exchange by broad industrial group for January and December 1983 and 1984, and for January and March 1985
