Reallocating Beaumont Hospital funding

Summary

Ormonde asked whether Beaumont’s capital allocation could be diverted to urgent projects including Sligo and Ardkeen. The Minister said the year’s funding would be spent and that he was still pursuing Beaumont.

Perhaps I might help the Minister in this matter. In view of the fact that it is now unlikely that the opening of Beaumont Hospital will go ahead this year, and since, as I understand it, there is a capital allocation of something in the region of £5,500,000 for that project, would he allow that capital to be diverted to other urgent projects such as Ardkeen and Sligo Hospitals?

That would appear to be another question.

I can assure the Deputy that the £58 million we have this year will be spent and I am not yet finished with Beaumont.
