‹ Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Island Farmers Health Contributions.

Island farmers’ health contributions

Summary

The Minister rejects exempting small island farmers from health contributions solely on the basis of their occupation and residence.

Denis Gallagher Mr. D. Gallagher Fianna Fáil

asked the Minister for Health if he will exempt small farmers living on islands who are not medical cardholders from liability towards the payment of health contributions.

Comment on this

I would not consider it equitable to exempt small farmers living on islands simply because of their occupation and residency while still requiring persons in similar or indeed poorer financial circumstances to pay health contributions.
