asked the Minister for Finance the money which is available from the EC Regional Fund for coastal protection works; if he has applied for assistance from the Fund for projects here; and if he will name the locations of such projects.

Coastal protection works if they form part of a larger development project would be eligible for European Regional Development Fund assistance. The amount of assistance would be between 50 per cent and 55 per cent of the total public expenditure involved. No application has been made for European Regional Development Fund assistance for such projects.
