Louth unemployment figures
The Minister gave live-register counts for Dundalk, Drogheda and Ardee, noting that exchange areas may include neighbouring districts. He agreed to check whether Drogheda’s figures include parts of Meath and rural Louth and to provide the information.
asked the Taoiseach the numbers on the unemployed live register at 1 January 1986, for the following areas: (1) Dundalk employment exchange; (2) Drogheda employment exchange; and (3) Ardee social welfare office.

Would the Minister agree that the figures quoted by him in his reply include parts of County Meath and the rural areas of County Louth in relation to the Drogheda employment exchange?
Comment on this
(Dún Laoghaire): This is a separate question and I would like to check that point before giving a positive answer. There is a problem with giving information such as this because they cover other areas just as the Deputy mentioned, and at times it can give a wrong picture as to the unemployment in a particular area.
