I initiated a three year programme in 1984 to provide more weighbridges to supplement the existing facilities. Under the programme ten weighbridges are being installed by road authorities at strategic sites throughout the country at an estimated cost of almost £900,000 which is being recouped by 100 per cent grants from my Department. The operational dates specified are based on information supplied by the relevant local authorities.
