Request to extend Question Time

Summary

The Deputy objected that the Government’s late arrival had shortened Question Time and sought an extension. The Ceann Comhairle said Standing Orders did not allow him to extend it.

On a point of order, in view of the fact that the Government were ten minutes late arriving here, I feel that Question Time should be extended——

The Deputy should get Standing Orders changed; as they are, they do not permit me to extend Question Time.

It is ridiculous that we lose ten minutes out of an hour each time the Government are late coming into the House.
