B&I ship repairs awarded to Liverpool

Summary

Mr. Ahern objects that £5 million in B&I ship-repair work is going to Liverpool rather than Cobh, despite local unemployment and Verolme Dockyard’s closure. The Ceann Comhairle repeatedly rules his intervention out of order and tells him to resume his seat.

Before we move on to the next business, I would like to say that recently the Government gave around £40 million to keep B & I in operation, but £5 million is being given to a shipyard in Liverpool to repair B & I ships——
