Brady asks which public-service sectors can use the Labour Court and which can also use conciliation and arbitration; Quinn provides a detailed tabular statement, noting differing arrangements for health-board and voluntary-hospital staff and the ESB’s Industrial Council.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will name those sectors of the public service having access to the Labour Court; and if he will list those sectors having access to both the Labour Court and the scheme of conciliation and arbitration.

The reply is in the form of a detailed tabular statement which I am circulating.

Following is the statement.

Access to adjudication bodies for the main employee groups in the public sector.

(a) In the health area, officer grades viz. general nurses, paramedical and clerical grades employed directly by the Health Boards have access only to arbitration. Similar grades in voluntary hospitals have access only to the Labour Court.

(b) ESB have their own Industrial Council.
