asked the Minister for Justice if any changes are planned in the rules governing the carrying, and use of firearms by members of the Garda; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Instructions to gardaí about the use of firearms are at present under review by the Garda authorities, in consultation with the law officers. I cannot at this stage state what changes, if any, will be introduced as a result of this review.
