asked the Minister for Education the number of supervisors and examiners who have applied for the holding of intermediate, group and leaving certificate examinations; and if he will give a breakdown of the number to be recruited in total.

My Department received approximately 31,000 applications for examining and superintending the 1986 certificate examinations in response to advertisements placed in the public press in October 1985 and April 1986.

The number to be recruited is as follows: (a) Examiners, 4,000 approximately; (b) Superintendents, 3,000 approximately.
