Grants to Sports Organisations

Summary

The Minister said £976,950 was allocated to 65 organisations and promised a table of grants sought and awarded; three applicants were unsuccessful.

asked the Minister if he will give details of sporting organisation who were not successful in receiving finance in the recent allocation to the voluntary sports bodies, and in relation to the organisations which were successful, if he will state the grants applied for and the amounts quoted to each organisation.

Comment on this

Grants totalling £976,950 were allocated to 65 sports organisations this year in respect of the costs of coaching, administration, equipment and special projects designed to increase participation and improve standards.

I propose to circulate in the official report a tabular statement showing the amount of grant applied for by the sports organisations and the amount allocated to each organisation.

The following three organisations were not successful in their application for grant-in-aid for 1986: The Motor Cycle Union of Ireland, The Irish Pony Club, and The Royal Irish Automobile Club.

Am I to take it from the Minister of State's reply that only three organisations were not funded?

Comment on this

There were three who were not successful.
