Written Answers. - Waterford Airport Approach Roads.

Edward Collins Mr. E. Collins Fine Gael

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the need to improve the approach roads to Waterford regional airport; if he will state the planned expenditure on those roads to bring them up to an acceptable standard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

John Boland Minister for the Environment (Mr. Boland) Fine Gael

I understand that the road in question is located partly in Waterford city and partly in the county and that it is an urban/county road.

Primary responsibility for the planning and execution of any improvement works on these roads, including the timing and provision of the necessary finance, rests with the local authorities concerned who may, at their discretion, use the block grant for roads paid annually by my Department to supplement expenditure from their own resources.
