asked the Minister for Defence the present numbers of craftsmen employed in Collins Barracks, Cork (a) permanently and (b) temporarily; the relevant numbers employed for (a) and (b) during the years 1978 to 1985 and to-date in 1986; the volume of outstanding works documented to be carried out; when it is proposed to bring the work on maintenance up-to-date; if it is envisaged to make permanent appointment of craftspeople; and, if so, at what date.

It is not proposed to offer longer term appointments to craftsmen at present employed on a casual basis.
