asked the Minister for Energy (a) the stocked area of the State forest (b) the total area of plantable land acquired by his Department for the period 1980-86 (c) the area forested and the area reforested in each of the years 1980-86 and (c) the estimated current value of the State forest including standing timber and the land.

The information requested is as follows:

(a) The estimated stocked area of the State forest estate on 31 December 1986 was 330,400 hectares.

(b & c)

(d) The current value of the State forest estate, including standing timber and land, based on the forestry review group's report is estimated to be in the region of £1.2 billion.
