asked the Minister for Finance whether he has introduced changes into the conditions of the career break scheme as operated by the previous Government; if so, the details of such changes; and if it is his intention to allow the scheme continue in existence.

I take it that the Deputy is referring to the career break scheme for established civil servants. The only change in that scheme is that the maximum period of a career break has been extended from three years to five years.

It is the intention that the scheme will continue to operate.
