Asked whether such a meeting was desirable, he declined to speculate and noted he would meet the British Prime Minister in Hanover.

Plans for any such meeting would, in accordance with normal practice, be announced simultaneously in Dublin and London close to the time of the meeting.

Do I understand from the Taoiseach's reply that a meeting at Heads of Government level is being planned for this year?

The Deputy should not take that assumption from my reply. What I am saying is that if such a meeting were to take place the normal procedure would be followed which is an announcement shortly before it would take place.
