Dáil
‹ Supplementary Estimates, 1988. - Private Members' Time and Priority Questions: Motion.

Private Members’ Time and Priority Questions Motion

Summary

The motion proposed extending the existing arrangements for Private Members’ Time and Priority Questions until the Christmas Recess. O’Malley protested that it was being continued without debate; Mac Giolla proposed amendments on allocating Private Members’ Time and question procedures, which the Chair allowed, and O’Malley ultimately said the motion was not agreed.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach (Mr. V. Brady) Fianna Fáil

I move:

That the Order of the Dáil of 16th June, 1987, in relation to Priority Questions and Private Members' Time, as amended by an Order of the Dáil of 17th December, 1987, is hereby amended by the substitution of ‘until the adjournment of the Dáil for the Christmas Recess' for ‘until the adjournment of the Dáil for the Summer Recess'."

Comment on this

I wish to register my objection to the continuation of this change in Private Members' Time which was made last year and which it is now sought to continue until the end of the year.

The Deputy is acting in violation of a decision of the House a short time ago.

Comment on this

On a point of order, as the motion is being taken without debate, is it in order to propose my amendments without debate?

The Deputy is so in order.
