asked the Minister for Justice the number of prisoners in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin 7 who are diagnosed as having AIDS or are HIV positive; and having regard to the number involved, the treatment which is available for them; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At present there are 45 male and 10 female offenders in Mountjoy Prison who have been identified as HIV positive.

In my reply to Question No. 11 of 23 June 1988 I outlined the services available to these offenders.
