asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food whether it is time to provide independent sampling services to determine sugar content and tare levels to allay obvious dissatisfaction with the present arrangements.

The determination of tare levels and sugar content in beet is a matter for Siúicre Éireann. I am advised that the arrangements for carrying out these functions are agreed between the company and the beet and vegetable section of the Irish Farmers' Association.
