asked the Minister for Justice whether the Government propose, in accordance with the obligations entered into at the CSCE Conference in Vienna last month, to introduce legislation guaranteeing the security of private telephone conversations.

I am advised that we do not need new legislation in order to comply with the provisions of the Concluding Document of the Vienna Conference in relation to privacy of telephone communications.
