asked the Minister for Finance, following renovation of the Custom House site, Dublin 1, if he has plans to restrict cars parking in the area surrounding the building, as they do little to enhance the environmental impact of same.

Car parking in the grounds of the Custom House is already restricted.

A proposal from the Department of the Environment which would involve additional landscaping of the grounds and further restriction of car parking is being considered.

While I agree there is merit in the Deputy's suggestion I am doubtful whether restrictions of a scale which would significantly improve the visual aspect of the building and its environs are a realistic proposition at this time.
