Prisoner transfer from Limerick to Mountjoy

Summary

The Minister could not approve the transfer because Mountjoy lacked available accommodation, but said the case would be kept under review.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has considered the representations of Deputy Brendan Howlin on behalf of a person (details supplied) who is suffering severe depression due to isolation from his family; and if this person can be transferred from Limerick prison to Mountjoy prison.

Comment on this

For reasons relating to the availability of accommodation I am unable at present to authorise a transfer for this offender to Mountjoy Prison. However, the case will be kept under review.
