Bertie Ahern Minister for Finance (Mr. B. Ahern) Fianna Fáil

The current decentralisation programme does not envisage the decentralisation of any section of the Department of Finance to Wexford. However, it is the intention that the branch of the Revenue Commissioners with responsibility for the new motor vehicle registration tax will be based initially in Rosslare pending the building of new decentralised Government offices in Wexford. The staffing requirements will be met as far as possible through redeployment of surplus Customs and Excise staff following the completion of the internal market. It is envisaged that approximately 30 administrative staff will be employed in the new decentralised office.
