104 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of women on the boards of agencies and companies under his control at the end of 1991; the plans, if any, he has to increase the number in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are currently three women on the boards of agencies operating under the aegis of my Department, which represents an increase of one on the position as at the end of 1991.

I am aware of the desirability of placing suitable women on the boards of State bodies and I will appoint such women whenever it is opportune to do so.
