Gerry O'Sullivan Minister of State at the Department of the Marine (Mr. G. O'Sullivan) Labour Party

Prior to 1 January 1989 the Department of the Marine, which was established in 1987, did not itself undertake harbour works. These were carried out, on behalf of the Department, by the Office of Public Works. Since 1989, the Department of the Marine has carried out harbour works directly either by contract or by direct labour.
