The number of applications for firearm certificates is not readily available and it would take a disproportionate amount of the resources of the gardaí and my Department to compile them.

In regard to the number of applications granted, I refer the Deputy to my reply yesterday to Questions Nos. 241 to 245 in which statistics which are readily available for the years 1993, 1994 and 1995 were provided. Similar details for the years 1990, 1991 and 1992 are in the statement as follows.
