Albert Reynolds Mr. Reynolds Question Fianna Fáil

211 Mr. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education if she will give a date for the start of a new national school building at Clontuskert, Lanesboro, County Roscommon, in order to avoid withdrawal of all children from school and a strike by the INTO over the lack of progress by her Department in getting the building of this new school under way. Niamh Bhreathnach Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach) Labour Party

The current position of the construction of a new national school at Clontuskert, Lanesboro, County Roscommon, is that an advertisement was placed in national and local newspapers during the week ending 24 January 1997, inviting contractors and sub-contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion in the tender prequalification process to apply to the primary contracts section of my Department before 12 noon, Friday, 28 February 1997.

A decision on the timing of the tender and contract process will be taken in the light of available financial resources and at this stage I am unable to indicate the time frame for the commencement of the project.
