Written Answers. - Dredging of River Nore.

Liam Aylward Mr. Aylward Question Fianna Fáil

65 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance the reason his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 87 of 25 February 1997 by Deputy Aylward did not allude to the fact that proposals were already approved by the Office of Public Works to dredge the river Nore to alleviate future flooding at John's Quay, Kilkenny, and that a wall is to be built at John's Quay; and if he will make a statement on the reason this information was not included in the reply. Hugh Coveney Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Coveney)

I can confirm that the information given in my reply to the Deputy's parliamentary question of 25 February 1997 is the factual position and that no definitive programme of works for alleviating the flooding in Kilkenny has been approved by the Office of Public Works.
