John Gormley Mr. Gormley Question Green Party

420 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Health and Children if she will reconsider the Government’s proposal to relocate the Central Mental Hospital to a new site adjacent to the new prison site at Thornton Hall; if she has received letters from various carers’ groups who are very concerned about this proposed relocation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. In May 2006, the Government approved the development of a new national forensic mental health facility at Thornton Hall, Co. Dublin and the disposal of the site at Dundrum. The Health Service Executive has established a project team to progress the redevelopment of the Central Mental Hospital.
