135 Deputy Beverley Flynn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he proposes to reform lease law to ban upward only rent reviews in respect of commercial property in view of the inability of many businesses to meet the cost of high rents in the current difficult business environment. As indicated in my response to Parliamentary Question No. 150 on 7 April last,I have written to a number of relevant bodies highlighting my concerns about current practice in relation to upward only rent reviews, and urging that a more flexible and innovative approach be taken in relation to this issue. I am keeping the matter of legislative intervention under active consideration.
