Planning Issues

320 Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his plans to review legislation regarding the licensing of outdoor events for less than 5,000 persons; if his attention has been drawn to the lack of control associated with such events; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Section 230 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 provides that a licence is required in respect of the holding of an event, or class of event prescribed under Part 16 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (Licensing of Outdoor Events).

While I have no specific proposals for review, I will continue to keep the operation of Part XVI of the 2000 Act under scrutiny to ensure its effective operation.
